Brush your teeth during travel. You can maintain the consistent oral care habit.
A travel toothbrush is a must-have item. You will be able to find various folding type or two-piece toothbrushes. Most travel toothbrushes have a travel case and its small size is especially efficient for limited space.
Many people carry travel toothbrushes (or full size toothbrushes), travel-size toothpastes, and small floss boxes in purses, briefcases, coat pockets, and office desk drawers. Carrying a toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss in your bag is a great idea in case you cannot move. Store them in your bathroom at home to get and use them right away when necessary.
Please keep in mind that if there is no toothpaste, just brushing your teeth with a wet toothbrush is better than doing nothing.
Oral Care Tips during Travel
Chew a gum. If there are not enough food and water during travel, take the sugar-free gum. Air travel dries the mouth and may cause the tooth decay. Sugar-free chewing gum helps to create saliva, which can remove excess bacteria.
Right kinds of Snack If you need to stay at an airport or to eat stuff of a vending machine in a low-cost hotel, selecting peanuts instead of pretzels or candy is better for your teeth. Scientific evidence shows that nuts can protect tooth enamel from plaque generated from the neutralized acid in the mouth and provide a small amount of healthy minerals such as phosphorus. Pretzels may seem like a healthy snack, but they contain fermented carbohydrates that stick between the teeth and aggravate oral bacterial growth. Especially if you have to travel continuously and cannot brush your teeth for a while, it may cause more danger.
